CF & Wire Seal Flanges

CF (ConFlat®) and wire seal flanges are part of the same family of ultrahigh vacuum components that compress a copper gasket between two stainless steel flanges to create a vacuum tight seal. The CF flange system is more commonly used within the vacuum industry and as such has a much larger standard product offering. Wire seal flanges are desirable for those applications that require flanges larger than those available with the CF flange system. These CF flanges are manufactured to industry standards and are interchangeable with all other ConFlat® style flanges and fittings. Wire seal flanges have no standard dimension specifications. Vacuum component manufacturers endeavour to create interchangeable flanges, however, it is our opinion that the only way to ensure compatibility is to purchase a mating set of flanges from one manufacturer. All flanges available through Laser Support Services are manufactured on state-of-the-art CNC (computer numerical control) lathes to ensure consistency with dimensional tolerances, and extremely fine surface finishes. Water soluble, non sulphur based coolants are used during the manufacturing process. The flanges are cleaned in an ultrasonic de-ionized water based cleaning system and vacuum packaged free from visible particulates and oils, ready for immediate use in any vacuum application.

ISO KF & LF Flanges

ISO-KF (Klein Flange) and LF (Large Flange) flanges are part of the same family of ISO standard elastomer sealed vacuum components. ISO flanges and fittings, available through Laser Support Services, are manufactured in accordance with ISO (International Standard Organization) 2861 standards and tolerances. These flanges are an economical, convenient and simplified means of constructing custom vacuum systems. ISO flanges provide a complete range of fittings to mount with tubing sized 12.7mm (1/2”) up to 508mm (20”) diameter. The flange system consists of two sexless, 360˚ rotatable flanges, a centering ring for alignment and support of the sealing ring and a fastener to compress the seal between the two flanges. ISO-KF and LF sealing components are similar, however their fastening methods differ.Laser Support Services are able to offer a broad range of flanges, fittings, valves, traps and accessories with ISO connections that can be used to create a complete vacuum system or pumping line.

Hybrid Adapters

Hybrid adapter fittings allow vacuum users to connect two dissimilar vacuum flanges or a vacuum flange to a fitting used in conjunction with vacuum process (Swagelok®, VCR®, BSP). To minimize the effect this transition fitting has on conductance, hybrid adapters are generally designed with the shortest length and with the largest inner diameter possible. Please note that hybrid adapters are not used to change sizes within one flange family. Fittings used to connect two differently sized flanges from within the same flange family are called reducing nipples.


• Vacuum rating: - UHV hybrid adapters: CF to Swagelok® or CF to VCR®. - HV hybrid adapters: All flanges and fittings that include an elastomer seal. - Leak Rating < 1x10-9 std. cc/s helium.

• Temperature range: - Metal seal flanges and fittings: -200˚C up to 450˚C. - Elastomer seal flanges and fittings -20˚C up to 150˚C.

• Materials: - Flanges and Fittings: 304 stainless steel as standard. - Other materials available on request. - Flange seals: see the catalog section for that specific flange for its sealing options. - Fitting seals: Copper as standard for CF flanges, Viton® or nitrile as standard for KF & LF flanges. Bellows & Flexible Hoses

Laser Support Services are able to off flexible stainless steel hoses for use in applications where solid tube would not be practical or for purposes of vibration isolation. These hoses are manufactured from thin wall tube which is corrugated to allow flexing in all directions, along with a small amount of axial compression and extension. Also available are reinforced PVC hoses for backing or exhaust lines. For applications which require greater flexibility, particularly axial compression and extension, a range of edge welded bellows are available. Edge welded bellows are manufactured from a series of formed metal diaphragms welded together, each diaphragm contributing to the overall extension allowable, so the more discs the greater the extension attainable and also the greater the lateral offset achievable.

Liquid & Gas Feedthroughs

Non Cryogenic Liquid & Gas Feedthroughs

As the name suggests, these are feedthroughs, designed for allowing non cryogenic liquids and gasses into and out of your vacuum chamber, often for cooling purposes.

Cryogenic Liquid Feedthroughs

Serve the same purpose as the feedthroughs above, but have been specifically designed for passing cryogenic liquids. These feedthroughs include thermal insulation between the liquid tube and the vacuum flange, so as to minimise temperature differentials and therefore minimise any ice build up and resultant shrinkage of the vacuum flange.
